
President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush will attend Pope John Paul II’s funeral as will former presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Former U.S. president and Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Jimmy Carter, the first American president to welcome a Pope to the White House, will not be in attendance. Whether this is a White House snub or a case of miscommunication is a matter of dispute that has Washington buzzing.
