Iraq: Follow the Money

Getting Iraq back on its feet is costing us billions. Where’s the money going? It’s Stuart Bowen’s job to find out. He’s the Special Inspector General for Iraqi Reconstruction — scrubbing the numbers, looking for waste, fraud and anything else he can find.

The latest report from his office is just out and it is a glaring concern that Iraq will fail to sustain the reconstruction projects like water plants and oil operations when the U.S. hands them off. Stuart Bowen already has uncovered plenty of problems like the $7.2 million in project funding that’s gone missing. Are we getting what we paid for?

Hear a conversation with Stuart Bowen, Inspector General for Iraqi Reconstruction.
