American roads are more crowded every year, and millions of work hours are lost to traffic delays and congestion.

Some transportation experts argue that the Bill waiting on President Bush’s desk doesn’t do enough to address the issue. Some are proposing market solutions to the problem arguing that private companies could better fund and manage roads.

On Point looks at the push to fill in the transportation Bill’s failings with private roads and higher tolls.

Guests:

Clifford Winston, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution specializing in industrial organization, regulation and transportation and author of “Road Work, a New Highway Pricing and Investment Policy”

Robert Poole, Co-Founder and Director of Transportation for the Reason Foundation, member of the Bush-Cheney transition team, advised the last four presidential administrations on privatization and transportation policy

Michael Replogle, Transportation Director for Environmental Defense.
