Living with Multiple Personality Disorder
photo

Robert Oxnam was president of the Asia Society, a China scholar, companion to Rockefellers, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet — a man of gold-plated resume and accomplishment. He was also and still is a classic case of “multiple personality disorder.”

Behind the facade of Robert Oxnam there was a public figure, boiled Bobby, Tommy, Baby, Robbey, a witch, a librarian — eleven personalities in all. They rollerbladed, cheated, menaced, moaned. Their battle, born in childhood trauma, almost killed him. He survived, and now tells his story.

Hear a conversation with Robert Oxnam, multiple personality disorder, and a fractured mind.

Guests:

Robert Oxnam, who often accompanies prominent Americans — including Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and former President George H.W. Bush — on trips to China. His new book is “A Fractured Mind: My Life with Multiple Personality Disorder.”;
Jeffery Smith, pyschiatrist. He has worked with Robert Oxnam for 15 years.;
Vishakha Desai, current President of the Asia Society. She has been married to Robert Oxnam since 1993.
