Jane Goodall’s “Harvest for Hope”

Celebrated primatologist Jane Goodall, best known to the world for her work with chimpanzees, first arrived in Africa in 1960 when she was 26-years-old. Today she is regarded as a foremost authority on chimpanzees and their conservation, work she has detailed in several books including her bestselling “Reason for Hope.”

Now in her seventies she has taken up another deeply personal cause, urging Western Society to think more carefully about the food it produces and consumes in her new book “Harvest for Hope: A Guide to Mindful Eating.”

In this radio diary, Goodall talks about her new cause.

IED’s in Afghanistan: Hard Numbers

Christopher Hill: U.S. Troop Withdrawal ‘On Schedule’

U.S. Ambassaor to Iraq Christopher Hill spoke with On Point live from Baghdad today as early voting gets underway, part of the run-up to Sunday’s elections. “So far so good,” Hill said, despite scattered violence. Hill said that the plan to withdraw U.S. combat troops by Sept. 1, and to leave only a residual advisory force of 50,000 or fewer, remains “very much on schedule.” Observers worry that a spike in violence could derail that timeline.
