So far, fewer than a third of New Orleans’s pre-Katrina population has returned to the Big Easy. One resident who has yet to make the journey back is singer Delia Nakayama. Medical troubles have kept her in Berkeley, California. But she wants to return to the city that once opened its arms and welcomed her in her time of need. Now, it’s New Orleans that needs its people, Delia says.
In this radio diary, she sends a message to her scattered neighbors, and to the city she loves.
Guests:
Delia Nakayama, New Orleans resident and member of the acappella group, The Hot Toddies.
