Genocide in Sudan
photo

By host Tom Ashbrook:

In New York Times columnist Nick Kristof’s Africa, the dead and dying of Darfur in Sudan come powerfully to life. Sometimes literally. In another urgent Kristof column this week from the landscape of rape and murder, a corpse literally opens its eyes — not yet dead it turns out — as if to stare at the world.

Some 300,000 have been killed in Darfur, Sudan. Millions have been driven from their homes into desolation. The United States called it genocide in 2004, and now Kristof says it’s getting worse, spilling into neighboring Chad.

Hear voices from Darfur, the top Bush administration official on the case, and Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times, on the trail of genocide.

Guests:

Nicholas Kristof, Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times. His column appears weekly on Tuesday and Sunday

Ann Curry, Co-Anchor, Dateline and NBC News Anchor

Jendayi Frazer, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs and former Ambassador of South Africa

After all, America emits only [...]
