The Security of Private Industry
photo

By host Tom Ashbrook:

The Dubai port operator deal hits more trouble in the U.S. The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee says GOP leadership will conclude, “these aren’t the folks you want to operate your ports.”

But at the intersection of private industry and security, America is vulnerable in far more spots than just ports. An attack on any one of a hundred US chemical plants could kill a million Americans. Nuclear power plant security — thin.

Whether the owners are in Dubai or Alabama, private industry is not stepping up. Critics say a too-friendly government hasn’t asked them.

Hear about getting serious about security on the commercial front.
