Three Years in Iraq
photo

By host Tom Ashbrook:

Three years after Pearl Harbor, the Allies were in Paris, Hitler was on the run, and the German army was playing its last big card in the Battle of the Bulge. World War II victory was in sight.

Three years after American leaders launched Rolling Thunder in Vietnam, the Tet Offensive exploded. American troops would slog on for five more long years.

Three years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, it’s hard to know what to say. The cost in blood and treasure has been huge. President Bush says on to victory. William F. Buckley says call it a failure and move on.

Hear a conversation with New York Times Baghdad bureau chief John Burns about the costly, bloody mess of the Iraq war, three years later.

Guests:

John Burns, New York Times Foreign Correspondent.

Babak Deghanpisheh, Baghdad Correspondent for Newsweek.
