The Bush Presidency: Where To?
photo

By host Tom Ashbrook:

President Bush’s job approval rating is dropping like a stone. The 88 percent in 9/11’s aftermath is ancient history. The 50 percent rate at his re-election is long gone. By the middle of this week, Bush’s had plummeted to his father’s low of 31 percent, the lowest presidential showing in half a century but for Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon.

Today, the Wall Street Journal publishes a poll finding Americans give George W. Bush an approval rating of only 29 percent. The Republican Congress scores even lower.

Huge issues are raging. And Bush still has nearly a thousand days to govern. How will he do it?

Hear about a presidency in trouble, and Bush’s last thousand days.

Guests:

EJ Dionne, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution & Syndicated Columnist for the Washington Post Writers’ Group

John Fund, Member of the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board

Jack Beatty, “On Point” news analyst and Senior Editor at the Atlantic Monthly magazine.
