The Party of Death
photo

By host Tom Ashbrook:

Ramesh Ponnuru is young, smart, passionate and a great bright hope of the American right. At 31, he’s a senior editor at the conservative National Review. He’s been published all over, and even had his media-baptism on Jon Stewart’s Daily Show.

He’s a Kansas wunderkind. He’s the child of a Hindu dad and Lutheran mom. Graduated high school at 15. Graduated from Princeton summa cum laude. Became a Catholic convert on his own volition.

Now, Ramesh Ponnuru is out to make his first big mark with his first big book. It’s aimed mainly at Democrats, and he’s titled it “The Party of Death.” It’s about abortion and stem cell research. Rush Limbaugh loves it. So does William Bennett. Is this the future of American political debate?

Hear a conversation with Ramesh Ponnuru about what he calls “the party of death.”

Guests:

Ramesh Ponnuru, senior editor at The National Review, author of “The Party of Death: The Democrats, the Media, the Courts, and the Disregard for Human Life”

Neera Tanden, former legislative director for Senator Hillary Clinton, senior vice president at the Center for American Progress

George Annas, bioethicist and professor at Boston University School of Public Health
