Week in the News
photo

By guest host John Hockenberry:

In the news this week, has it been a mixed bag or a grab bag? Incumbents are nervous about the early signs of voter revolt in some US primaries. Iran tells the world to mind its own business regarding its nuclear program. The President tells America that staying the course in Iraq is tough medicine that will make our lives better in the end. The polls are dubious.

After making a billion dollars for Paramount Pictures, Tom Cruise is out of a job — do you want to take up a collection? A year after Katrina and the sun is shining over the Gulf, how’s the rebuilding? And there’s that whole story about the little beauty queen girl — what’s her name? I’ll think of it.

We look back at this week with our own knights of the roundtable.

Guests:

Juliet Eilperin, national correspondent for
The Washington Post and author of “Fight Club Politics: How Partisanship is Poisoning The House of Representatives.”;
John McWhorter, senior fellow at The Manhattan Institute, author of “Winning the Race: Beyond the Crisis in Black America”;
Jack Beatty, On Point News Analyst, senior editor at The Atlantic Monthly.
