Week in the News
photo

By host Tom Ashbrook:

Housing starts may be way down, but you could see the political framework for the fall campaign season going up like gangbusters this week.

President Bush was front and center, banging away on national security, detainees and Guantanamo, on surveillance and war and threat while the Baghdad morgue tripled its body count and the New York Times pro-war columnist Tom Friedman accused the Bush administration of “moral confusion.”

It’s been a lively week back from Labor Day. Ford steps aside at Ford. Katie Couric sits on the anchor desk at CBS. New oil, thank God, is found in the Gulf. Agassi and Irwin go down fighting.

Hear a conversation with Dana Millbank of the Washington Post, Kim Strassel of the Wall Street Journal and On Point’s Jack Beatty on this week in news.

Guests:

Dana Milbank, national correspondent for The Washington Post, covered the White House during Bush’s first term

Kimberly Strassel, editorial board member for The Wall Street Journal

Jack Beatty, On Point News Analyst, senior editor at The Atlantic Monthly.
