David Crosby: Still Rockin’
photo

By host Tom Ashbrook:

At the height of the counter-culture, anti-war movement of the 1960s and ’70s, the musical backdrop of millions of young Americans lives was made by the iconic group Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, with songs like “Ohio,” “Teach Your Children,” “Wooden Ships,” and “Woodstock.”

In the years since, a lot of music and headlines have been made by the group’s flamboyant composer, singer and guitarist, David Crosby — for jail time, for fathering Melissa Etheridge’s children, and discovering his own, and for hitting the road well into his 60s to raise the anti-war banner, again.

This hour On Point: a conversation with musical icon David Crosby on life, music and America, now and then.

Quotes from the Show:

“War is dumb way to solve problems.” David Crosby

“I never had any idea this world we’re living in would turn out this way.” David Crosby

“I’ve always written about love more than anything else, and that’s still true.” David Crosby

“The greed for power and dominion over people is far greater than we the hippies ever thought possible.” David Crosby

Guests:

David Crosby, legendary singer and songwriter from The Byrds, and “Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.” He is author of the new memoir “Since Then: How I Survived Everything and Lived to Tell About it.”
