I wonder if this has been shown to President Obama, and if so whether it will affect the dedcisions to be made about our future in Afghanistan. I hope so, and that he will be brave enough to get us out of this mess.

What Matthew Hoh said is absolutely right that Taliban is not our enemy; Afganistan people hate us because we are the occupation troops; and that it is not worth fighting for the corrupt government.

I am disgusted by our presence in other peoples lands who do not share our values or system of government.

At the same time, our hypocrisy disgusts me as well. We afterall are the consumers of the drugs that reach our borders.

Finally, I am sickened when I hear or read that we (ie the US of A ) must go out and "kill" someone. Where have we gone? We teach our kids NOT to kill, yet we say we have to find and "kill" Bin Laden. As if that will really fix things. What happened to 'bring the bastard to justice'... to capture them and bring them to justice. Hey... if they happen to get killed in the process, then that is too bad for them. But we, as Americans, should not be going to "kill" people. Can you understand what I have just said? We even have ministers... Pat Robertson ( I think ) who want "kill" Bin Laden, etc. I will say this, he's certainly upholding the bloody Christian traditions.

Thank you.

I have read the letter with much despair and sorrow. Should President Obama read this letter he can only come to one conclusion. Declare this war un-winnable and start the retreat of our troops. The country will understand and admire him for doing so. I was in the military so I know the importance of knowing you can win a war no matter how difficult it is but this is Vietnam all over again.
