On his 100th birthday we celebrate the life and music of the great composer Richard Rodgers.
His career spans six decades with 40 musicals and over 900 published songs to his credit. Along with the lyricists Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II, Richard Rodgers wrote some of the most popular music in the American Songbook and created a new theatrical form, the musical drama where the characters and story were as important as a good tune.
Guests:
Keith Lockhart, Conductor of the Boston Pops and the Utah Symphony Orchestra. Latest CD is called “My Favorite Things: A Richard Rodgers Celebration
Theodore Chapin, President and Executive Director of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization.
