With just seven weeks before Election Day, the candidates for President and Vice President turned to domestic issues on the campaign trail today.
John Kerry lambasted President Bush for not doing more to extend the assault weapons ban, which is set to expire at midnight, and said the President paid for his tax cuts by taking police off the street.
The President and Vice President meanwhile focused on health care, the same day that their campaign released a new ad saying that Kerry wants to create a “government-run” health care system.
Tune in tonight for an excerpt of Vice President Dick Cheney speaking earlier today in Ottumwa, Iowa.
