Evacuation efforts at the Superdome in downtown New Orleans are on hold. The decision was made after reports that shots had been fired at a military helicopter helping in the evacuation.
The plan is to move more than 20 thousand people who sought shelter in the Superdome to the Houston Astrodome, 350 miles away. A few busloads managed to leave last night. Refugees arrived in Houston very early this morning.
