Trouble at NASA

George Deutsch, the 24-year-old presidential appointee at NASA, resigned this week when it surfaced that he never graduated from Texas A&M University as his resume indicated. He tried to limit scientists from speaking publicly, and ordered a Web designer to insert the word “theory” after each reference to the Big Bang.

His departure coincides with an agency-wide reevaluation of how to talk to the public.

There were several interesting exchanges in Thursday’s first hour between Douglas Holtz-Eakin and Austan Goolsbee, but this one stood out. Holtz-Eakin said that the Treasury plan to take an ownership stake in banks is “very disturbing,” and added: “It’s not the way things should be done in the United States.”
